Race Creation

This form allows you to organize and create a variety of races for use within your settings.

Name Generation

The field Race Name is just a label to give your race, such as Human. However the Random Name Generation is where you specify how names are to be generated when Worgan 2 randomly creates characters of this race for you (see Notebook Properties).

Use English Lists is the default. This means that the character names will be chosen from the list of English (and a few other language) names. Male names are chosen from a male list, female from a female list. If you choose the middle option this allows you to specify your own name file. There is a sample file with names pulled from an Edda under the file \Worgan \YourIdeas\Data\Race\sample.use. If you attach this file to your race then names will be pulled from it, when a random character is created. There is another sample file in \YourIdeas\Data\Char\newname.use to use as well.

Selecting Other Names allows you to attach an .alp file to the race (see Word Maker). These names will be generated from a random letter weighing scheme. This would be good for alien species name generation. When you select this option you need to fill in the box beneath it, choosing an .alp file and the number of syllables and words in the name.

The extra description files shouldn't need to be modified by you unless you make up a very alien species with different characteristics. Just load in the new file to use by clicking on the button.

For height and weight, choose minimum and maximum values. The three boxes for hair color, eye color and skin color respectively are filled in by dragging the allowed colors from the Colors box. For example, if your race could only have green skin you would drop the color green in here.

There is a space to jot some race notes as well. Finally there is the Calendar File. Here you can specify a calendar to use to generate birth dates for your characters when created randomly (see Extra Info and Calendars). By default our standard Earth Calendar (default.cal)is used.
