Coins and Currencies

Here you can manage the currencies of your world. Experiment with the sample currencies. When you are ready try to create your own.

Main/Base Coin

This is the standard coin/dollar of the country, i.e., the dollar. You will rate all the other coins/dollars in the country in comparison into this one, i.e., a penny is .001 of a dollar.

The World Modifier represents the value of this currency in comparison with an arbitrary world standard. In our own world this is like comparing Canada's currency to the USA; as of today Canada's dollar is 0.65 of the USA dollar.

Comparing Coins within the Country

Add coins by clicking the Add Coin button. Enter a name for the coin. Enter a coin value for the coin; this value is rated against the countries standard dollar. That is, if one of the coins you add is a DIME, give it a rating of 0.10, because a dime is 1/10th the value of the standard dollar. Once you are done entering the information for this coin, click Update.

Instead of performing the calculations to exchange coins, you can let Worgan do it for you. Refer to Figure 2. Choose the number of coins of a certain type. Then choose a different type of coin that you may want to convert them to. Click the Calculate button. Worgan will display the number of coins of the new type equivalent to the old type. For example an output value of 0.20 would mean that the original coins only amount to 1/20th of the destination coin.

Comparing Coins with Other Countries

Imagine that the World Modifier is measured against 1 arbitary unit. Thus you create country Nugel, and assign it the value 2 for it's World Modifier. That means that the base coin of Nugel is worth 2x the World Modifier. One base coin is worth 2 of the arbitary and nonexistanct standard. Now there could be another country, Korniid, who has a World Modifier of 1/2. That means that one Nugel Coin is equal to 4 Korniish Common Coins.

Currency Notes

You can use this section to insert any further information. You might make a note that within the story/campaign you shouldn't stick to the conversion rates as hard and fast. Someone in an isolated area may be more reluctant to take unusable coins. Maybe you might want to note that the coins are all made of wood or some other material.
