AutoLetters

Allow there was an autoletter capability in the last version of Worgan, this feature has been so changed that I consider it new.

Autoletters now operate like standard files. You open up an autoletter, edit it, save it and then use it in Add/Edit Events accessed via the Submission Book.

How to Make An Autoletter

There are several varieties of auto-letter. You might need a cover letter, a query letter, or you might be pulling the story from a slow and unresponsive market. An example of some auto-letter formats are included and explained below

Click Add Field to add a blank field. Now select this field, give it a name and select a type (currently types are not that useful, but they will be in future version). Enter the text desired. For Example: open cover1.atl. And click greeting. You will see the following line: Dear [*editor*]. This means that when this autoletter is used the [*editor*] field will be filled in by the name of the editor for the market you are sending the story to. These are tags.

[*editor*]: editor's name
[*market address*]: current market address
[*market name*]: name of this market
[*story name*],[*article name*]: inserts the name of the project
[*words*]: number of words in the story
[*your name*]: takes the name entered under Options|Properties.
[*your address*]: takes the address entered under Options|Properties

If you have any other tag suggestions please let me know.

You can view a preview of your autoletter by going to Options|Preview. This will save the autoletter you are working on and give you a preview of it.

How to Run an AutoLetter

Just go to Add/Edit Event for a story, choose the market and then click Auto-Letter. This will bring up a file open dialog box. Locate the autoletter you want to use and click the open button. An autoletter will be displayed in print preview.

Samples Included

cover1.atl: this a standard cover letter.
followup.atl: this is a letter to use to ask about the status of your story.
query.atl: when you have an idea for a story/article use this letter.
old style.atl: this is the type of cover letter that I use. It is the old style that was included in previous versions of Worgan

You will notice that cover1.atl uses a lot of fields, whereas the others don't. This is just to show you that you can make these autoletters as organized or as little organized as you want. More fields take a little bit more time but will make the letter be more organized. This will probably become more important as more features are added to autoletters with further versions of Worgan.
